Benedict’s Kirkland, Ntiasagwe Selected For FCS All-Star Bowl

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Benedict College football players Edward Kirkland and Okechi Ntiasagwe have been invited to participate in the 4th Annual FCS Bowl.

The game will be played at Daytona Municipal Stadium in Daytona Beach, Fla. The FCS Bowl features the best NCAA FCS and HBCU college seniors and is heavily scouted by the NFL and CFL. Kickoff is 1 p.m. and will stream on FloFootball.com.

Kirkland was third on the team this season in total tackles with 43 tackles. He also led the team with four interceptions and had five pass breakups. He was a first-team All-SIAC in 2016 after his junior year and was named All-Region.

Ntiasagwe was a first-team All-SIAC selection this year after leading the conference in receptions per game and receiving yards per game. He caught 41 passes for 589 yards and three touchdowns.

Both Kirkland and Ntiasagwe will play for the American Team, which will be coached by current AFL Albany Director of Football Operation Chris Thompson. Former NFL  Coach Mike Stock will coach the National Team.

The FCS Bowl is an annual post-season college football all-star game consisting of the top players from FCS and HBCU schools. The rosters give NFL/CFL scouts a chance to view and get to know some of the best players from smaller schools over the bowl weekend.
